Title: Abortion Awareness!

Theme: Social innovation and new media

Background:

Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death. An abortion can occur spontaneously due to complications during pregnancy or can be induced, in humans and other species.

Problem Identification:

Unwanted pregnancies in unwed mothers, particularly teenagers, are difficult to handle in our society. Taking into consideration that 38 out of every 1,000 women aged between 15 and 49 years old go for abortion in Malaysia and the rate of illegal abortions is 0.1% or 500 per 500,000 live births yearly. It is a large amount of abortion cases in Malaysia. The better solution is introducing sex education to teenagers. This suggestion seems so difficult to implement because the religious people think that sex education will teach their teenagers about to have sex.

Aim and Objectives:

-- To create an awareness about the abortion.

-- To let other people feeling sympathy to innocent baby.

-- Try to let abortion away in young thinking.

-- To teach teenagers about effect of having sex before marriage.

Motivation:

I would say those mothers who choose to abort their babies should blame the society as well especially those organization who just talk and do not provide any realistic alternative. Help doesn’t mean counseling or monetary help but also to take away this mother’s responsibility of taking care of their babies if this mother asks to do so!

Ideation and Concept:

For my installation, I want to create an audio visual and motion graphic with picture of innocent baby, sound of baby crying, crowds, and some typography. A projection mapping techniques, it will mapping according to the wall size. It can be more realistic and people will see it alive.

Design Approach: 
Infographics, illustrations, audio visual

I will create audio visual and motion graphic to create awareness of abortion and when people watch it they will realize and feel the hurt of the innocent baby.
